Firewood Factory began in December of 2015 when the downturn in the oil industry and joyful new addition to their family prompted a lifestyle change for Luke and Kaylen Janes.
Luke had always been drawn to the firewood business, and the two saw the opportunity to start a company that would modernize the field. While some large retailers bring in their firewood from other provinces, Firewood Factory sells birch and spruce harvested from rural forests in Newfoundland.
Firewood Factory offers a variety of sizes and cuts (junked/split, ¼ cord bins, and 8ft lengths), and can do custom cuts. the wood can be picked up at their woodlot, or delivered anywhere in the greater St. John’s metro area. burning Firewood Factory means supporting sustainable forestry. FIrewood Factory is licensed to procure and sell wood, which means that everything you buy is considered as part of the provincial Allowable Annual Cut (AAC), determined by the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agrifoods to be sustainable. That is a real plus for the planet, and a great incentive to buy local and licensed.
The Firewood Factory goal, for now, is to be the go-to provider of firewood within the Northeast Avalon and build a business that makes the community stronger as well as warmer. Luke and Kaylen value community, they are social-media savvy, and they like what they do, which altogether makes it very easy for customers to get good, local firewood, and makes for good business. Feel free to get in touch with them via social media, or drop by their woodlot to have a chat in person!
