Found Boutique is the high-end consignment shop on the west end of Water Street owned by Omaha-borne Karin Smith.
Consignment stores are hugely popular in the United States, and when she arrived, Karin saw the gap. She put her background in communications and her resale experience together with a ready-to-wear ready-to-grow market, and Found is the result.
Supported by over 1600 consignors throughout Newfoundland, Atlantic Canada and the US, Found offers a high-end alternative to thrift shopping. Found re-sells designer fashion products including jewelry, clothing, shoes, accessories, handbags, and much more from designers like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, et al.
Found commits to quality and style, and follows principles of slow-fashion and quality products over fast-production ones. Found works with the consignee - there is a selection process for goods based on quality and style - and it gives back too.
Found has built a relationship with Marguerite’s Place and other good works places, whereby if an item on consignment doesn’t sell, it can still find a good home.
This environmental and community awareness are reflected on Found’s operations. “We are as green and low carbon emission as it can get here. We don’t buy or import anything - all our merchandise is sourced locally.”
Found keeps on growing, and has undergone upgrade renovations to create space for great clothes to meet new owners. “We love where we are now, we are trying to do as much as we can with the space we have."
