‘The Shop’ is bringing business ideas to life in St. John’s!

it is a social enterprise of Choices for Youth and the only small/medium scale production facility east of Montreal. The Shop takes on the range of production – packaging, labelling, woodworking, tech products, textiles, vinyl printing, t-shirt printing, all sorts with a high quality standard. and they build capacity for local companies. they build and ship hydroponic units for Sucseed. they bottle beer vinegar for Wild Mother Provisions. they take unsold clothing donations from Neighbourhood and turn them into rags for all purposes. always looking for projects to expand their portfolio and ramp up their business, The Shop welcomes projects of all kinds from small and large companies alike.

The Shop is much more than a production facility. they provide employment, training, and advancement for at-risk youth in the community, and profits go back to support Choices for Youth’s mandate to end youth homelessness in Newfoundland and Labrador. youth who work for the Shop learn every aspect of the work, they earn leadership experience, and once they find their niche, they can further develop their skills in order to build a career for life. and, they benefit from all the support that Choices for Youth has to offer.

The Shop fills a gap in the production economy in Newfoundland and Labrador, so that local businesses do not need to send away for production work. The work can stay here on the island, keeping costs down for businesses, lowering their carbon footprint, and helping youth in the province thrive.

The Shop is one of the three social enterprises of Choices for Youth. the social enterprises employ youth who have barriers to finding sustainable work with the goal of helping them learn new skills so that they can obtain meaningful employment, or pursue post-secondary education.
