Heritage Shops operate seasonally at Historic Sites locations throughout the province, but Covid-19 may have an impact.  The online shop is fully stocked and open for business.

Where can you always find the lovely Newfoundland and Labrador things?  Art, books, labradorite and more?  Throughout the province, the nine Heritage Shop locations offer the best in local art, craft and literature that reflect the history and heritage of this place and our people.

The Heritage Shop online is always available, and there are year-round locations on Water Street, Duckworth Street, and Torbay Airport.  The others operate seasonally from Historic Sites - Cape Spear, Signal Hill, Castle Hill, Port au Choix, Ryan Premises, and L'Anse aux Meadows. At all locations, Heritage Shop buyers work closely with artisans and crafters and ensure the continuation of traditional techniques, and that the history behind these products lives on.

All proceeds from the Heritage Shops support the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.  Established in 1984, HSA is a non-profit dedicated to preserving and presenting the stories of our historic places.  

HSA is behind the annual Heritage Fair that students throughout the province participate in, in partnership with the Department of Education and the English and French School Boards. Every other year, the HSA holds the Bartlett Lecture and the Manning Awards. The Lectures are about the spirit of exploration and the North and are inspired by Captain Bob’s own lecture tours in the early 1900s. The Manning Awards recognize groups or individuals who are doing exceptional work presenting NL history and heritage. HSA is proud to support the Signal Hill Tattoo performances at the Signal Hill Visitor Centre each summer.

If you’ve visited any of the 8 National Historic Sites of Canada (NHSC) around this province then you have heard the stories of our history that HSA’s has helped preserve and present. In fact, HSA was the first cooperating association with Parks Canada in this country in 1984.
