Shakti Yoga is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga school. Founder Bobby Bessey directs the long-running 200-hour Shakti Yoga Teacher Training NL program in St. John's, NL and is also the creator and facilitator of yin yoga, prenatal yoga, ayurvedic yoga, and yoga Nidra teacher training programs.
Shakti Yoga provides a variety of yoga and ayurvedic wellness services. Bobby specializes in yoga teacher training, prenatal yoga and birth preparation services, in addition to teaching hatha, yin, neurogenic and corporate yoga sessions.
With yoga certifications in a number of traditions, Bobby began her teaching practice after discovering how transformative yoga was to the quality of her own health. Inspired by her years of study and exploration of yogic traditions in both India and Japan, Bobby returned home to NL and started Shakti in 2004. Bobby weaves her background in science and psychology with her love of yoga tradition to create classes that inspire as they promote health and wellness.
Bobby’s classes are trauma informed. Her neurogenic and yoga nidra classes and workshops assist clients in managing and releasing tension and trauma.
The Shakti Yoga 200 hour teacher training is offered annually and begins each year on the last weekend of January. This program consists of ten weekends of study (with a break in July and August). Register to deepen your personal yoga practice and/or prepare to confidently and skillfully share yoga with your community.
Bobby’s local classes are taught at The Boathouse by Quidi Vidi Lake, however, she travels frequently to facilitate Shakti Yoga teacher trainings, and workshops around the province of NL and internationally. You can find schedules and more information on her website at www.ShaktiYogaMethod.com
