Discover The Trailway Hub:  Ideal Vacation Home in Deer Lake for west coast Newfoundland adventures

10 minutes from Deer Lake airport and just off the TransCanada Highway Route 1, Newfoundland you’ll find The Trailway Hub.  It’s the best home-away-from-home place to start your west coast Newfoundland adventure.

Welcome to The Trailway Hub

The Trailway Hub is a beautiful vacation home in the historic Town of  Deer Lake.  With five bedrooms - each with private ensuite - and shared kitchen, living room and outdoor space, it’s a perfect home base to take advantage of all west coast Newfoundland has to offer.

Meet Lori Caines - the Mrs. of The Trailway Hub

Lori Caines is the Mrs. who runs The Trailway Hub.  A Newfoundlander born and raised, Lori sets up the traditions of Newfoundland hospitality - cleanliness, comfort, and care - to Trailway Hub guests.  Lori says, “My grandmother would be proud!  The place is well-cared for. Guests love the comfortable beds, the plush towels, and they love the modern Newfoundland decor.”

The Trailway Hub Accommodations and Amenities

With its five bedrooms, The Trailway Hub sleeps 12.  It has a fully equipped kitchen, space to work, laundry, outdoor space with fire pit.  It’s pet-friendly for smaller dogs.  And it's one of the few vacation homes that offers electric car charging with its Flo Home X5 Smart electric charging station.

Lori says, “With three double and two triple rooms all available by the each, we’re an ideal place to stay for singles or couples.  But families or groups travelling together love the convenience of all being under one roof.”

The Historic Town of Deer Lake

Deer Lake is an historic town that rose up where the mighty Humber River meets Deer Lake.  Decades ago it was an important stop for the cross-island Newfoundland Railway line.  Today the rails are gone but the trail roads the rails lay on remain.   The rail bed route extends for 883 km (548 miles) linking urban, rural and wilderness areas. The park forms The Newfoundland T'railway, the Newfoundland section of the Trans Canada Trail.

The Newfoundland T’railway:  A Must-Do Adventure

Traversing the T’railway is on the bucket list of many adventures from Newfoundland and Labrador, down the eastern seaboard, and across the country.

Close to The Trailway Hub you’ll find perfect spots for angling (need a license), biking, bird watching, hiking, horse-back riding, snowshoeing, and stargazing.  Power adventure people love the T’railway winter and summer for snowmobile treks and legendary ATV adventures.

For those travelling by skidoo or ATV, The Trailway Hub is the perfect place to stop between Buchans and Grand Fall-Windsor.  From there, more adventures await.

The Trailway Hub - Gateway to  Western Newfoundland

Along with the T’railway, The Trailway Hub is in the middle of the biggest names in Newfoundland and Labrador.  Gros Morne National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its  fjords, tablelands, theatre, hiking, and more is just 20 minutes away.

In Deer Lake itself, there’s a beautiful sandy beach, a museum, craft shops and more.  Conveniences like the supermarket are literally across the street.

The City of Corner Brook, just past Marble Mountain, is a scenic hour’s drive away.  Marble is renowned as the best hill east of the Rockies for skiing and snowboarding, but west coast Newfoundland is a centre for year-round adventure:  river rafting, zip lining, boat tours and more are part of the everyday.

The Newfoundland Insectarium is another natural phenomenon.  Located a short drive from The Trailway Hub, the Insectarium features thousands of live and mounted insects, arachnids, and arthropods from around the world.

The Trailway Hub - Home-Away-From-Home for Newfoundland adventure

The Trailway Hub in Deer Lake is more than just a place to stay; it's your gateway to the best of western Newfoundland.  The vacation home is ideally situated for anyone looking to explore the area's natural beauty and outdoor activities.  With comfortable accommodations, including pet-friendly options, and a location that puts you minutes away from top attractions like Gros Morne National Park and the Newfoundland T’railway, The Trailway Hub is the home-away-from-home choice for travelers. Whether you're here for the hiking, snowmobiling, or simply to enjoy the local culture, The Trailway Hub offers a convenient and cozy base for all your adventures.

Fun fact:  It’s likely that the town, and the lake, have originally gotten their name from the significant number of caribou, then thought to be deer, seen crossing the lake.
