For this Inside Scoop, our own Kim Todd caught up with Viviana Ramirez Luna of Planeet Community Composting at the site of the Georgetown Commnity Composting project on Bonaventure Avenue. Vivianna has been working with community - MMSB, Kings Gate Condominiums, and others to make the project a success!
When you remember (if you've tried to dig a hole in most of the province, you'll never forget!) we live on a rock. It seems beyond ridiculous to send organic waste to the landfill. Organic waste breaks down to make good things grow.
Other provinces have large-scale compost collection, and some cities in NL have been working on that, but there are challenges in most jurisdictions here. Small scale community composting is an answer!
Viviana and Planeet Community Composting are all about bringing smart, sensible composting to communities. There is a Cooperative Community Compost Network on the go, breaking ground so to speak throughout the province!
Watch to find out more about composting in community bins!
